OVERACTIVE (2) impressed when resuming then took on a much better race last time when eighth over 6f in the LR Always Welcome Stakes at Flemington. Fitter and well-placed to turn things around. EUGENIUS (7) turned in a sound effort last time but found a couple better at Ararat over 6½f, beaten 0.8 lengths. Cherry-ripe now. Meets a tougher line-up this time but is among the leading chances. ALECTRONA (8) is overdue for a win after just missing last time when third over 6½f at Bendigo. Rates well and expected to be right in this. HENNESSY LAD (1) returned from a lay-off two-and-a-half weeks ago when he was in contention on the turn before being beaten 3 lengths into sixth over 6f at Kyneton. Strips fitter and should be thereabouts.
