THE CARILLO (2) doesn't boast the best winning strike rate but ran a nice race when fresh from a lay-off last time out, finishing third and beaten only 1.2 lengths over 5f at Mornington after being in contention on the corner. Finds the right race this time and can get the job done. CHAMPAGNE EFFORT (6) was a narrow winner by a nose at Mornington in a then third at Cranbourne last time. Gets a little weight relief. Has a win and four minor placings at this journey from seven starts and is sure to go well. SPICY MARGS (3) was last at the races when she finished tenth over 6f at Ballarat Synthetic on August 16. Among the better hopes. FROSE (4) didn't do a bad job when fourth last start over 5f at Mornington. That followed a win at Nhill the start prior. Well placed and can make amends.
