NURSERY CHIME (1) showed good early speed then led into the straight when fresh from a lay-off last start before fighting on to finish third, beaten half a length, over 7f at Cranbourne. Well-placed and is going to prove tough to run down. QUEEN BEIRA (6) progressed nicely last time out to finish just a neck from the winner in second over 1m at Stawell. Going up a level this time but she is up to the challenge. CHOSEN LEGEND (4) didn't do a bad job when fifth last start over 7½f at Caulfield Heath, beaten 1.5 lengths. That followed a win at Caulfield Heath the start prior. Finds the right race this time and can get the job done. CANDLE IN THE DARK (3) scored on debut last start over 7½f at Yarra Valley on December 20 finishing 0.8 lengths ahead of the nearest rival. Key contender.
