ARRAN BAY (6) showed early speed from a good draw last time and raced on speed before drawing clear to score by 0.8 lengths over 7f at Flemington. Stiffer assignment here but he is a leading contender. Group 2 placegetter KEATS (2) fought on to score a narrow win in the LR George Adams Plate at Launceston over this trip at his last appearance on February 28. Down in the weights this time so he is expected to measure up again. Multiple Group 1 placegetter NUGGET (1) showed little early speed last start and failed to come on in the straight when seventh, beaten 4.5 lengths, over 7f in the G1 Futurity Stakes at this track. Will enjoy a drop in class so he will be hard to beat. Group 3 placegetter FIRST IMMORTAL (4) is back at the races for the first time since October 25. Worth noting he filled a minor placing when returning from a lay-off last prep over 1m at Moonee Valley. Has to be respected.
