Sheffield United boss Paul Heckingbottom seemingly nailed on to be next sacked Premier League manager
Sheffield United manager Paul Heckingbottom is now odds-on favourite to be the next Premier League manager to get the chop after his side's 8-0 thumping at home to Newcastle.
Heckingbottom was already wobbling at the top of the market before the weekend's action at odds of 6/5, but now he has tumbled to 1/4.
However, the Blades appear to have no immediate plans to boot Heckingbottom after the club's heaviest league defeat, which now leaves them bottom of the table.
There has been speculation linking former boss Chris Wilder to a Bramall Lane return, but even this embarrassing defeat will not change the board’s position.
When asked whether he will be the manager for the next game, Heckingbottom said: “Yes, 100 per cent.
“This might be a theme now by the looks of it. I can’t answer any of that, the game, the players, my department, yeah no problem, but things like that you are asking the wrong man.”
Everton boss Sean Dyche, who was next in the firing line before the weekend at 4/1 has pushed out to 8/1 after a morale-boosting 3-1 away win at Brentford.
Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag was also under big pressure before the Saturday night victory at Burnley, but his odds have also drifted from 7/1 to 16/1.
It will be Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino who might be looking over his shoulder in the next couple of weeks, although despite the 1-0 home defeat to Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon, you can still grab him to be the next Premier League to get sacked as much as 16/1 with some generous bookies.
