MLS betting tips, Matchday 14: LA Galaxy can defy the odds against DC United
MLS matchday 14 kicks off with Wayne Rooney's DC United and Phil Neville's Inter Miami side in action on Saturday night.
The big news in Major League Soccer this week came out of San Diego, which according to Ron Burgundy, was discovered in 1904 and in German translates to a whale's… Nevermind.
MLS Commissioner Don Garber has signed off on billionaire Mohamed Mansour paying $500,000,000 to create an MLS franchise (English: Club) that will join the league in 2025.
San Diego already has a perfectly good team that is ironically named San Diego Loyal. If Landon Donovan's side ever joins MLS, that's a rivalry that won't need manufacturing.
The line that the league continues to publicise is that it's about sustainably growing the league to a point where promotion and relegation can exist.
The next step of that plan is getting billionaires to agree that their shiny new toy might end up playing on a barely visible second-division soccer pitch at a baseball stadium in the arse end of nowhere
(American: Oklahoma).

Another fun nugget of information this week was the release of player salaries because MLS tells us exactly what players are paid. You'll find players' weekly salaries in brackets.
Wayne Rooney's
DC United side will face a tough test against
LA Galaxy this weekend. Led by Christian Benteke ($85,000) and Mateusz Klich ($40,261), DC are eighth with 16 points through 13 matches.
They look like a much better unit than last season thanks to the arrival of Klich and Lewis O'Brien ($6,980).
Four clean sheets in 10 matches is an achievement for this group. They'll be tested by the Galaxy, who should restore dangerman Javier Hernandez ($143,149) to the starting line-up, and have struggled for goals this season.
The quality of chances LA have been creating suggests they can find the net against DC and make a game of this. DC could be odds-on to win by kick-off but it's too early to go all in on this time.
Our odds suggest that LA Galaxy should be equally priced with DC to win this game at around 8/5, so their current price holds quite a large chunk of value.
Down south, Phil Neville's
Inter Miami side will look to bounce back from defeat against Nashville when they face their Floridian rival
Orlando City.
Prior to the defeat Inter had won four consecutive matches and scored two goals in three of those. Josef Martinez ($84,445) has scored three goals in that time and with him back to his best, they look dangerous.
From this week in the 2022 MLS season onwards, Miami embarked on a run of high-scoring home matches. Both teams found the net in 12 of 13 games with a total of 51 goals scored, making for an average of 3.92 per game.
Both teams have scored in four of Orlando's five away matches, three of which have featured at least three goals. Our numbers have this game marked as the prime suspect for the highest-scoring match of the week.
City's Ercan Kara ($39,492) is also starting to find form with three goals in his last four appearances and will test Miami's inconsistent defence.
All four meetings between the sides on this ground have witnessed both teams scoring and each game producing at least three goals for a combined total of 16 goals. Saturday's game should be an open affair.
