Next Wolves manager betting odds: Vitor Pereira odds-on favourite as Gary O’Neil is sacked

Vitor Pereira Fenerbahce Nov21

Wolves finally pulled the trigger on Gary O'Neil after the 2-1 defeat to Ipswich. So who are the favourites to replace him in the Molineux hotseat?

O’Neil managed to survive the ‘El Sackico’ defeat at West Ham, but Ipswich loss was a step too far for the former Bournemouth boss.

Wolves' fourth defeat on the trot left them in 19th place in the Premier League table, five points off the safety.

Now O'Neil finds himself looking for a new role and his potential replacement is now in a race for his job.

Here, we look at the leading contenders.

Good luck and please gamble responsibly.

(All odds are correct at time of article publication)

Vitor Pereira - 1/6

Vitor Pereira is odds-on favourite become the new Wolves head coach in the next 48 hours after the club agreed a compensation package with Saudi side Al Shabab.

Pereira would be the third Portuguese coach Wolves have appointed since Nuno Espirito Santo joined in 2017.

It is reported that the deal will be confirmed by the middle of the week and Pereira will be in charge for the Leicester match on Sunday afternoon.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer - 8/1

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

The former Manchester United boss still one of the favourites for the role, after being spotted at Saturday's match with Ipswich.

But his credentials won't be filling Wolves fans with delight.

Relegated with Cardiff and sacked by Manchester United, can the Norwegian really keep Wolves away from relegation?

David Moyes – 12/1

David Moyes

Former West Ham and Everton David Moyes is another familiar name on the list.

While the Scot wouldn’t be the sexiest of appointments, he has experience of taking clubs out of relegation danger.

During his second stint at West Ham, Moyes steered the club to Premier League safety before winning a European trophy.

Carlos Corberan - 12/1

The current West Brom boss is always a popular name on next manager lists.

He's doing a solid job with the Baggies, and nearly guided Huddersfield back to the Premier League.

But another name who isn't going to have Wolves fans leaping from their seats.

John Eustace - 12/1

Cruelly binned by Birmingham for the more glamourous Wayne Rooney - which inevitably turned the club into a bin fire.

Eustace dusted himself off and returned to management with Blackburn, steering them away from relegation.

Now Blackburn are challenging for promotion from the Championship, and League One Birmingham must be spitting feathers.

Eustace is certainly and up and coming manager, but would he want the pressure of Wolves?

Steve Cooper – 25/1

Having recently lost his job at Leicester City, Steve Cooper unsurprisingly finds his spot at the top of the list.

Cooper’s stock rose exponentially after taking Nottingham Forest from the Championship relegation zone to the dream land of the Premier League.

His time at Leicester was far less memorable, though many did see his sacking as somewhat premature.

Nevertheless, Cooper has recent Premier League experience and would make for a solid appointment.

Sergio Conceicao – 25/1

Former FC Porto boss Sergio Conceicao also appears on the list as he looks for a new managerial test.

The former Portugal international spent seven years in the Porto dugout, helping the side to three league titles and eight domestic cups.

Considering his lack of Premier League experience this could be seen as a risky move.

Graham Potter – 28/1

Graham Potter has been linked with near enough every recent Premier League vacancy – including this one, although at much bigger odds than the rest.

The 49-year-old endured a rather disastrous spell at Stamford Bridge where he won 12 of his 31 matches in charge.

Potter has been closely linked with West Ham in recent days and if he is to take one Premier League vacancy, the one in the capital seems more likely.
