Both teams to score
Arsenal have a perfect home record in the competition, beating PSG 2-0 and Shakhtar Donetsk 1-0. However, their 5-1 win against Sporting Lisbon on matchday five was their finest work.
Monaco arrive in London on the back of two defeats in three, losing 3-2 to Benfica in the Champions League, and 2-1 to Marseille in the league.
Despite a wobble, the French side scored in 17 of 19 fixtures this season, a run which includes a 2-1 win against Barcelona in this competition.
The Gunners have scored in 20 of 22 home fixtures since the turn of the year, so it would be a mighty shock if Monaco were able to keep them off of the scoresheet.
Arsenal to win
We have to show the visitors respect, especially as they’ve beaten Barcelona in this year’s competition. However, the Premier League side should be too strong.
They’ve found a level of consistency under Mikel Arteta, unbeaten seven home times since 2023, including a 2-2 draw with Bayern Munich and a 6-0 thrashing of Lens.
They’ve got plenty of goals in them and they should have enough to see off a Monaco side that historically concedes in bunches at this level.
Match shots: Under 26.5 shots taken
We do think this game will be more open than Arsenal’s previous Champions League encounters at the Emirates, but this line feels somewhat inflated.
The Gunners average 11.6 shots per match in the competition, but that number is largely informed by recording 20 attempts against Inter Milan.
At home, they’re taking 9.5 shots per 90 minutes, a number which is identical to Monaco’s attempts on their travels.
Games against PSG (16) and Shakhtar (23) both dipped comfortably below this number, so we’ll take our chances with fewer than 27 shots being taken.
Over 3.5 cards shown
The French side don’t shy away from a tackle. They’ve received 12 yellows and one red in the Champions League, making for an average of 2.6 cards per match.
Arsenal are a little more reserved, but they’re always willing to fight fire with fire. They have 10 players with no fewer than two cards to their name.
Bukayo Saka (3), Declan Rice (3), Kai Havertz (2), William Saliba (2) and Gabriel (2) are all potential starters this evening and won’t hesitate to get stuck in.
