West Ham dig deep into their pockets to land Lyon midfielder Lucas Paqueta

West Ham are expected to pull out all the stops in their latest bid to land Lyon midfielder Lucas Paqueta.

West Ham have increased their bid for the 24-year-old Brazilian international by adding more to the bonus part of the deal.

The French media are throwing out a £34million fee plus another £12m in bonuses. This would bring them closer to Lyon's asking price, and a sizeable increase on their first offer which was rejected on Wednesday.

The East London outfit are incredibly keen on landing Paqueta as quickly as possible, to scare off interest from Newcastle who have been tracking him all summer, as well as Arsenal and Spurs who also have entered the race and could hijack the transfer.

Paqueta's agents are also reportedly in London discussing the new offer with West Ham, but there is still work to be done according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

West Ham's transfer expert ExWHUemployee also confirmed a new deal was being cooked up.

"We can confirm that our original offer for Paqueta has been turned down but the club will go back in with an improved offer with the use of bonuses and clauses," ExWHUemployee wrote on his official West Ham Way Patreon page.

"The club are hopeful that this deal will get done. [David] Moyes has also confirmed that he is in talks with other players which we believe we have named previously."
