Leeds vs Sunderland: Predictions, tips and bet builder as Championship promotion rivals face off

Daniel Farke manager of Leeds United

Leeds look to reclaim top spot in the Championship when they take on promotion rivals Sunderland at Elland Road on Monday night (2000 GMT).

Daniel Farke's Leeds face one of their biggest challenges of the season as they welcome fourth-placed Sunderland to Elland Road.

The Whites have been in red-hot form recently, winning five of their last six and they have not lost in the Championship since a 1-0 defeat at Blackburn on November, 30.

Meanwhile Regis Le Bris' Black Cats are unbeaten in the league this calendar year, but recent home draws against Watford and Plymouth have cost them and they are currently seven points behind their hosts in second.

It promises to be a high-quality clash under the lights at Elland Road and we've had a closer look at the fixture and picked out the best bets along the way.

Good luck and please gamble responsibly.

Leeds to win

Despite Sunderland's unbeaten run, we think they'll leave West Yorkshire with no points due to the form Leeds are in.

There was a brief hiccup for Leeds in the FA Cup against Milwall last weekend... but let's face it, it was probably not at the top of their priorities, and they returned to form with a resounding 4-0 win over play-off chasing Watford in midweek.

The reverse fixture was a 2-2 draw, but with the way Leeds have been playing in recent weeks, we can only see one outcome and that's a home win.

Manor Solomon to score in 90 mins

The vast majority of the Leeds attack are in good form, but Manor Solomon is perhaps the pick of the bunch at the moment.

The 25-year-old Israel international has scored four times in his last six outings and three of them have come on home soil.

Solomon has been combing excellently with the likes of Dan James and Joel Piroe in the last few games and we think the winger will find his way on to the scoresheet once again.

Both teams to score

During their last six league games, Leeds have not conceded a goal but we think they will against Sunderland.

The Black Cats have scored in 12 of their last 14 matches, while both teams have scored in three of their last four.

The reverse was an exciting 2-2 draw where both sides went for it and we think a similar game could be on the cards here.

Over 2.5 goals

While Leeds have been solid at the back this season, their attacking form has meant that there has been no shortage of entertainment.

Their tally of 66 goals is by far the best in the league and averages out at over two goals scored per game.

They have also scored 18 in their last three, so over 2.5 goals looks a good choice, especially given that Sunderland are also in good form in front of goal.
