Tottenham v Man United: Predictions, tips and bet builder as Spurs play host in battle of the underwhelming

The two most disappointing sides in the Premier League go head-to-head this Sunday as Tottenham welcome Manchester United to the capital (1630 GMT).

When you consider the vast amount of money and resources that Tottenham and Man United have at their disposal, it’s truly incredible to see them both sitting four and five spots above the relegation zone.

This season has been a major write-off for both clubs, with top six ambitions being nothing more than fantasy.

Nevertheless, this remains a massive fixture. With both clubs in desperation mode, this should make for thrilling Sunday viewing.

Here, we take a closer look at the fixture and pick out some of the best bets along the way.

Good luck and please gamble responsibly.

Both teams to score – 2/5

Over 3.5 goals – 23/20

Tottenham to score first – 10/11

Dejan Kulusevski +2 total shots – 8/13

Both teams to score

Over recent years, the one thing this fixture hasn’t lacked is goals. The last 10 encounters have produced a total of 40 goals – that’s an average of four a game.

These two sides last met in December as Spurs picked up a 4-3 victory in the Carabao Cup quarter-final. In fact, Spurs are on a five-match unbeaten run against Man United across all competitions.

We’re not too bothered about who wins this fixture, as long as both teams find the back of the net. Recent encounters certainly point to a goal-filled clash.

Over 3.5 goals

Past encounters are one thing, but what about their current form? Are both teams still scoring goals?

When it comes to United, the answer is yes. The Red Devils have found the back of the net in eight of their last nine matches, only failing to find a way through Crystal Palace.

When it comes to Spurs, the answer is far more complex. Ange Postecoglou’s are like a light switch in a busy room – they are always on and off.

Since their FA Cup clash with Tamworth in early January, Spurs averaged around two goals a game. That came to an end following a recent 4-0 hammering against Liverpool and a 1-2 defeat to Aston Villa.

We’re backing the switch to come back on as Spurs look to take advantage of United’s leaky defence.

Tottenham to score first

Tottenham have scored the first goal in their last four home matches. Two of them came against tough opposition in Liverpool and Newcastle.

Spurs are capable of starting fast – especially in front of their own fans. We’re backing that trend to continue when Man United come to town.

Dejan Kulusevski +2 total shots

Dejan Kulusevski loves to test the Red Devils, having scored in the two league matches against United last season.

The Swede always carries a big threat and we’re backing him to have two plus shots on Sunday.
