Robbie Savage: Jurgen Klopp quadruple win not enough for manager of season prize if Luton survive

Luton Town manager Rob Edwards

Former Premier League midfielder Robbie Savage has told Planet Sport Bet that Rob Edwards should be named Manager of the Season if he is able to keep Luton Town in the Premier League.

The Hatters head into the weekend a point above the relegation zone and with a six-match unbeaten run across all competitions.

Last weekend, Luton were held to a 4-4 draw against Newcastle away at St James’ Park. A few days prior, they picked up a shock 4-0 win over Brighton.

Speaking exclusively to Planet Sport Bet, Savage said: “Luton are doing unbelievably well under Rob Edwards, what an achievement that would be if they stayed up.

“If they do, Rob Edwards would have to be the Premier League Manager of the Season.

“To go to St James’ Park and go 4-2 up away from home is remarkable, they showed great spirit and energy.

“If they stay up, I don’t care if Liverpool win the quadruple, Rob Edwards is the manager of the season. I think they have the momentum at the moment to stay up, they’ve got the spirit.”

Luton host Sheffield United at Kenilworth Road this weekend in a huge showdown between two relegation contenders.

The Blades are currently bottom of the Premier League with just 10 points to their name from 23 matches.

Last weekend, Chris Wilder’s men were hammered 5-0 by Aston Villa at Bramall Lane.

Following their clash with Sheffield, Luton will then embark on a tricky four-match run which includes games against Manchester United, Liverpool, Manchester City (FA Cup) and Aston Villa.
