Ole Werner: Werder Bremen 'deserved' the point against Eintracht Frankfurt

Werder Bremen boss Ole Werner was satisfied with his side's 1-1 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt in their Bundesliga clash at Deutsche Bank Park on Friday.

The visitors took the lead via Milos Veljkovic just past the hour mark, but Tuta equalised for Frankfurt 14 minutes later, shortly after Jens Stage was sent off for Werder.

Tuta was shown a red card just before the end of the game, but the hosts held on for the draw, despite Werder enjoying more clear-cut chances throughout the clash.

Werner was chuffed with Werder's performance despite the fact that they had opportunities to win the game.

"I'm pleased with how the team performed today. It's only right for me to praise the boys on how well they've bounced back after a difficult few weeks.

"They put in a strong defensive display and did everything required of them out of possession when playing away from home.

"We took the lead, and couldn't argue with the red card decision, but really we should have been the ones with the numerical advantage after Dina Ebimbe's foul on Ducksch.

"We deserved the point on the basis of the shift we put in throughout the 90 minutes."

Green-Whites defender Marco Friedl added: "It was a very tough and intense game. Frankfurt had more of the ball over the 90 minutes, but we had better chances than them.

"We went ahead, but then conceded the equaliser, which made things difficult for us. Ultimately, we deserved to come away with a point."
