SONIC CRY (7) is a three-start maiden who could only manage to finish fourth after being in contention on the corner at his latest appearance over 4¾f at Towong. Well placed on this occasion and gets his chance to break the ice. KING PROTEA (6) is returning from a lay-off of five months. Finished eighth at Murtoa over 5½f at the first run last prep. Now with a new trainer Austy Coffey. Ran eighth in a trial at Echuca over 4½f recently. Comes here with definite top-three claims. ALESHA LILY (8) turned in another moderate effort last start when 5.5 lengths from the winner in ninth over 5f at Bendigo. Best efforts measure up so worth another chance.
