LORD PROTECTOR (8) was in the firing line on the bend and finished third last time over 1m2f at Cranbourne, beaten half a length. Will trim down following recent racing. Capable of another bold effort. USK VALLEY (10) started at 11/2 last time and ran below expectations, finishing fifth and beaten 5.5 lengths at Cranbourne over 1m2f. Tackling a more suitable race this time so she is a major player. JOFFREY (6) found the line nicely last start to get up for second over 1m3f at Ararat. Should be poised just off the lead. Sure to be in the finish. HERRLICH (5) hit the frame two starts ago at Terang but ran below par last time when seventh and beaten 5.5 lengths over 1m1 1/2f at Kyneton. Looks well placed so expect a big run this time.
