ASHY BOY (3) drifted back early when resuming last start and could only manage a 3.5 lengths ninth over 7f in the LR Conquering Stakes at Launceston. Has a fair record when second up, including three top-three finishes. Can return to winning form. ASVA (6) finished fifth two runs back at Hobart then improved last time out to score by a neck as public elect after being in contention on the turn over 7f at Launceston. Meets some better types this time but another big run is on the cards. THE SPIRIT OF ZERO (7) finished fourth last time out over 1m1/4f at this track, beaten 3.5 lengths. Among the main hopes. GENERAL ASSEMBLY (4) did a great job to score by 1.5 lengths over this course and distance last start in a much improved run. Suitably placed so anticipating another big run.
