SOCIAL CONSCIENCE (3) closed off strongly last start to get up for third, beaten 1.1 lengths, over 6f at this track. Among the leading chances. MACEDONIAN MARVEL (4) has not won for a long while. Last raced on December 6 when beaten 1.75 lengths into fourth at Mornington over 5f after being in contention on the bend. Meeting a tougher field but on his best form he is right in contention. A BOOK OF DAYS (1) finished fourth last start over 5½f at Geelong after racing on the pace for much of the way. Can figure in the finish.
