NAVY KING (4) kept coming but just failed to pick up the winner when fresh from a lay-off last start over 6½f at Ararat. Will strip a lot fitter this time around. This is the right race and he can go one better. BELTHIL (1) was out of the money when resuming two runs back then again missed the frame last start over 6½f at Ararat, beaten 5.5 lengths into tenth. Has the talent to produce a better result. DE BERGERAC (9) finished 3.5 lengths away in seventh last time out over 6f at this track two weeks ago. Tackles a longer journey this time. Backmarker who keeps coming. Capable of a big run. ROCK THE BAR (13) finished third at Kyneton two runs back but didn't measure up last time over 6¾f at Donald, finishing 10 lengths back in tenth. Has his share of ability and can do a lot better.
