Real Mallorca vs Valencia tips: Go low on goals but hosts should prevail

Mallorca sit 12th and Valencia 13th, but the two sides have quite different objectives going into this La Liga clash.

For Real Mallorca to qualify for the Europa Conference League, they need to win their final three matches while hoping a host of other teams fail to pick up enough points.

Thirteenth-placed Valencia have picked up 13 points in their last six matches to ease their relegation fears. Despite this, they still need four points to guarantee safety. The situation could swing quickly.

If Valencia are beaten on Thursday, and both Getafe and Real Valladolid win, they would find themselves just two points clear of safety with two games to go. 

They then face extremely tough fixtures against motivated teams in Espanyol and Real Betis to finish the season, so this game does look crucial for Los Ches.

Unfortunately for them, Los Bermellones are extremely tough to beat at home. Barcelona (1-0), Sevilla (1-0), Real Betis (2-1) and Elche (1-0) are the only teams to have done that.

Valencia’s home form looks like keeping them in the league this season but their away form is dire. They’ve won three on their travels all season, losing nine of their last 11 and failing to score in six of those contests.

Nine of Mallorca’s 12 victories have been achieved while keeping a clean sheet and they did pick up a rare away win against Valencia earlier in the season, winning 2-1.

The pressure is really on Valencia and despite their improved form, a win in Palma looks unlikely. We think the hosts’ outside chances of Europe will prove enough motivation. Back Mallorca to win a tightly contested game.
