RB Leipzig vs Bayer Leverkusen tips and predictions: Xabi Alonso’s invincibles to remain unbeaten

RB Leipzig finished 2023 in excellent form, after three consecutive wins, but started 2024 with a surprising defeat, at home against Frankfurt.

The team led by Marco Rose lost 1-0 to Eintracht in a game in which they missed several big opportunities.

Leipzig's last home win was on 16 December 2023. They are 4th in the Bundesliga table, one point behind Stuttgart.

Bayer Leverkusen maintained their undefeated streak at the start of 2024.

Xabi Alonso's outfit started the year with a hard-earned win against Augsburg, 1-0 with a goal scored by Exequiel Palacios in the dying seconds.

 

 

The Bundesliga leaders will be without Amine Adli, Edmond Tapsoba and Odilon Kossounou who are on international duty at the African Cup of Nations, while star striker Victor Boniface is injured.

Leverkusen comes into this match in fine form, having won three consecutive Bundesliga matches and all but three of their league matches this campaign.

Xabi Alonso's team is in first place in the league, with 45 points, four more than Bayern. However, Bayern has a game in hand.

The reverse fixture produced a real spectacle in the opening round of the season which Leverkusen managed to win 3-2.
