PSG vs Marseille tips: Kylian Mbappe to the rescue in Le Classique
Football tipster Sergiu Baltuta has offered his take on Le Classique as struggling sides PSG and Marseille meet on Sunday
The sixth round of Ligue 1 will conclude with Le Classique at the Parc des Princes. On Sunday night, Paris Saint-Germain, with Kylian Mbappe in excellent form, will face Olympique de Marseille, who are currently without a manager.
It should be an interesting match, as the team led by Luis Enrique has been very inconsistent so far this season, while OM’s players should be extra motivated by their fans’ support.
It has been a tumultuous summer in the French capital, with the new manager being appointed very late and a lot of changes to the squad.
Kylian Mbappé was not included in PSG's pre-season squad in Asia in an attempt to force him to leave before his contract expired, but he returned to the team after the start of the season and the team seems to have become reliant on him.
Mbappe netted a penalty to put PSG ahead against Dortmund, and he was also instrumental in his team's Ligue 1 success, contributing to the majority of their points.
Suggested bet: Paris Saint-Germain -0.75 Asian handicap
He was absent from the first round, a goalless draw against Lorient at home, but scored PSG's only goal in the second round, a 1-1 draw against Toulouse.
He then scored two goals in wins against Lens (3-1 at home) and Lyon (4-1 away). He scored two goals again last round, but this time it was not enough as Nice won 3-2 at the Parc des Princes.
PSG are struggling in Ligue 1, having only won 8 of their opening 15 games and are currently behind teams like Nice, Monaco and Marseille.
Marseille lost only once this season, in their opening match, which eliminated them from Champions League qualification. They lost 1-0 to Panathinaikos in Athens, then 2-1 in the second leg, losing on penalties.
Marseille have not been in top form in Ligue 1, despite being unbeaten. They have only won against Reims and Brest at the Stade Velodrome, 2-1 and 2-0 respectively.
Suggested bet: Kylian Mbappe to score anytime
They had the benefit of an extra man for 30 minutes in a disappointing 2-2 draw with Metz and dropped two more points in a 1-1 draw with Nantes despite having an extra man again.
They failed to make their numerical advantage - which lasted a combined 121 minutes - count in either of those games and followed up with a 0-0 draw against Toulouse.
Marseille aren’t giving much away, but they aren’t creating a lot either. PSG have had no problem scoring or conceding so this game presents a real clash.
The key difference between the two sides is that even at their worst, PSG have a game-winner in Kylian Mbappe.
