Leeds vs Norwich tips and predictions: Back goals and both teams to score at Elland Road
Leeds United can move within one point of the automatic promotion places when they face play-off chasing Norwich City at Elland Road on Wednesday.
Leeds and Norwich will put their unbeaten start to 2024 on the line when they clash at Elland Road on Wednesday evening.
Joel Piroe’s 94th-minute penalty handed the Whites a deserved 2-1 win against a physical Preston side on Sunday to extend their winning run to four.
On the other hand, Norwich were controlled and clinical in beating West Brom 2-0 at Carrow Road on Saturday. The Canaries are unbeaten in five.
Leeds and Norwich have struck up a soft rivalry in recent years, with dressing room antics and verbals, promotion and relegation six-pointers and some cracking games.
Leeds trailed 2-0 at half-time at Carrow Road but won 3-2 earlier this season while Kenny McLean’s injury-time equaliser was cancelled out by an injury-time winner last season.
It’s fair to say both teams are in fine form so another competitive affair could be on the cards, but that hasn’t stopped the bookies from slapping the wafer-thin price of 3/10 on the hosts.
However, it’s worth noting that David Wagner’s side have failed to win 10 of 14 on their travels and keeping teams out has been an issue.
The Canaries have conceded in each of their last 14 away games, conceding at least two goals in eight of those.
Few teams escape Elland Road without conceding at least twice as Daniel Farke’s side is now averaging three goals per game through their last eight.
The last 10 meetings between the sides have averaged over 3.5 goals and despite underlying stats showing Leeds limit chances, they continue to concede goals at home.
Seven of nine visitors have scored at least once and despite Norwich’s leaky defence, they know the way to goal. They’ve scored 25 in 14 on their travels.
Our overriding feeling is that Norwich will play their part in a cracker, but Leeds won’t want to miss this golden opportunity to close the gap finally. However, the price is too thin.
It wouldn’t be a surprise if City gets on the scoresheet and we expect Leeds to find the net at least twice.
