France vs Scotland tips and predictions: Scots brace for heavyweight test in Lille
Having already bagged qualification for Euro 2024, both France and Scotland will be looking to cap off the international break on a positive note when they meet in Lille.
Les Bleus are in tremendous form having won all of their six qualifying fixtures. That’s just one better than Scotland who picked up five wins from six in their campaign.
With Euro 2024 preparation on the agenda, the Scots will be determined to learn as much as they can from the World Cup finalists this Tuesday night.
Date, KO time and TV coverage

Predicted score
Key stats

- Scotland have lost back-to-back games for the first time since September 2021
- Scotland have lost three of their last 12 matches
Verdict
Considering this isn’t a competitive fixture, France may opt to make changes and do a little experimenting as they prepare for Euro 2024.
That’s not necessarily good news for Scotland when you take into account the substitute bench during France’s 2-1 victory over the Netherlands, which included Olivier Giroud, Marcus Thuram, Youssouf Fofana, Eduardo Camavinga, Ousmane Dembele and Benjamin Pavard.
Les Bleus are bursting with quality across the park and this could be a long night for the Scots if they don’t turn up – friendly, or not.
Steve Clarke’s men have experience in taking on heavyweights, losing to England and Spain in their last two outings.
Both defeats came by two-goal margins and we expect a repeat of that on Tuesday night in Lille.
While Scotland deserve all the credit in the world for their tremendous qualifying campaign, it’s no secret they’re still a few steps behind the big boys of international football.
We’re backing the Scots to get on the scoresheet, but ultimately we expect France to cap off their international break on a high.
