What has been said?

Patrick Vieira speaking after the 1-0 defeat at Aston Villa: "I'm disappointed, of course, because you always expect to go back home with something.
"The really important moments weren't in our favour - that made it even more difficult. When you score the first goal - especially in the Premier League - you know how important it is. On the other side, we conceded the own goal, and that showed how unlucky we have been lately.
"That is something that we have to face and try to turn things around. We were close to Villa. The difference between the two teams was that own goal."
Pep Guardiola talking after the win over Newcastle: "It was a really, really difficult game. We knew it, with the quality they have it is a threat and they will be a threat for the next five years because they have many good things. They control the ball well in transition, set-pieces.
"But it was a really good game, we defended really well. The solidarity between the two sides was amazing. We had our moments, they had their moments, but in the end the big actions for the two goals made the difference."

Verdict

"There's always one team that drops like a stone."
It's a phrase we've all heard in previous seasons around this time of year and Crystal Palace appear to be the subject of the so-called experts this time around. But, currently in the midst of a 10-game winless streak, it's hardly a maverick pick.
Palace are in a dreadful run of form, although things conspired against them last time out in the 1-0 defeat at Aston Villa. They scored an own goal, had a man sent off and saw a goal ruled out. But in truth they did not deserve to win at Villa Park and did not muster an effort on target.
A deeper delve into their form, though, especially at home, does not paint as bleak a picture. The Palace fans think they are doomed, but four draws in their last four at Selhurst against Man Utd, Brighton, Newcastle and Liverpool is not relegation form.
Those four could easily finish in the top six and a four-point haul is not to be sniffed at. Palace have much easier home games to come after Sunday's clash with the champions.
But at 9/2 Palace are worth a punt at holding City after a goalless draw with them at Selhurst last March.
City's away form of late has been underwhelming, having lost at Spurs and Man Utd and drawing at Forest before thumping Bournemouth 4-1.
They have, though, benefited from a full week of preparation, with Guardiola giving his men two days off, which was too much exposure to the general public for one of his players!
City could close the gap on Arsenal to two points, but City have drawn or lost six of their 13 away games and Palace are worth chancing.
