Copa America 2024 tips and predictions: Uruguay vs Bolivia - Nunez scores again in win to nil

Uruguay opened their Copa America campaign with a win over Panama last week with Matias Vina scoring and assisting as Darwin Nunez also got off the mark.

The win leaves Marcelo Bielsa’s side top of Group C and they’ll be expected to book their place in the quarter-finals with a win over Bolivia on Thursday.

Bolivia were beaten 2-0 by host nation USA on matchday one and nothing we saw from them suggests they’ll be able to stop Uruguay from breaking them down.

El Loco’s side will need to improve as the tournament progresses, but a repeat of Sunday’s performance would suffice to beat lowly Bolivia.

A United States side of questionable quality dominated 61% of the ball and produced numerous chances. Despite trailing 2-0 at halftime, the Bolivians offered no response.

The Selecao weren’t as clean in possession as they’d have liked against Panama, but Thursday’s opposition will surely allow them to control close to two-thirds of the ball.

Darwin Nunez looked sharp again as he sealed the match in the 85th minute, though Bielsa won’t have been pleased with conceding a 94th-minute consolation goal.

We expect a cleaner performance on the ball and for Uruguay to leave the back door firmly closed as Bolivia draw another blank.
