Rangers vs Dunfermline

Rangers are reeling after three losses on the bounce, including a pair of defeats to Malmo that ended their Champions League hopes. However, they should find solace in the Scottish League Cup as Championship side Dunfermline come to town.

The Pars came second in their qualifying group courtesy of three wins and a defeat, but that loss was to St Mirren - the only SPL side in the group.

Steven Gerrard's men are heavy favourites at 1/9, but with Rangers on the rocks and the visitors on a hiding to nothing, we reckon Dunfermline can at least find the net, so we're taking 15/8 on Rangers to win and both teams to score.

Borussia Monchengladbach vs Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich

The Bundesliga champions open the new season with a trip to the Colts, who have burst out of the stalls with wins in their last three pre-season encounters, including a 2-1 victory over Bayern, and a 1-0 win at Kaiserslautern in the German Cup.

The visitors on the other hand have struggled in the run-up to this campaign, losing three and drawing one of their pre-season matches, and while the bookies have installed them as 8/15 favourites. We reckon the value is in opposing them.

The hosts also have a respectable home league record against Munich, winning their last two encounters and losing just one of the last six, so we're happy to take 2/5 for both teams to score.

Valencia vs Getafe

Over in Spain, it's Valencia and Getafe who have the honour of opening the La Liga season, and the hosts are 11/8 favourites to start with a win.

Both sides enjoyed a quick jaunt to England to close their pre-season campaigns, with Getafe winning 2-0 at Brighton and Valencia losing 2-1 at Brentford.
Getafe actually won five out of their six pre-season games, winning the sixth on a penalty shootout, and will head to Valencia confident of springing the upset, especially as they are unbeaten in five league matches at the Mestalla Stadium.

Getafe are a tempting 21/10 to spring the shock, but at the same price, we're going for the draw.

Lorient vs Monaco

It was job done for Monaco on Tuesday as they brushed aside Sparta Prague 3-1 to extend their unbeaten start to the season to three games and move one step closer to the Champions League Group Stage.

Their next test is a trip to Lorient just three days later, but fatigue shouldn't really be a factor this early in the season and we reckon Monaco are worthy favourites at 3/4.

Lorient finished 16th last campaign and started this season with a 1-1 draw at St Etienne, but their last four home results against Monaco make for grim reading, as they have lost them all by an aggregate score of 2-11!
We reckon Monaco will prevail with something to spare, so we're taking them to win to nil, at 19/10.

Go Ahead Eagles vs Heerenveen

With a name that sounds like a feel-good sports movie from the 1980's, it's hard not to root for Dutch side Go Ahead Eagles, and after achieving promotion to the Eredivisie last season they might need all the support they can get!
What they do have though is a very winnable game on their return to the top flight, facing a Heerenveen side at home who could only finish 12th last campaign.

The visitors do have experience in their favour and will attract many supporters at 29/20, but we're going for the Eagles to enjoy a fairytale return, at an acca-boosting 17/10.

SonderjyskE vs FC Midtjylland

The visitors are on a roll with three league wins on the spin and are sitting pretty in second place in the Danish Superliga, and they will smell blood in the water as they travel to a SonderjyskE side that has lost their last two.
Although the hosts completed the double over their more illustrious counterparts last campaign and have lost just three of their last eight matches at home to the Wolves.

So while we do expect an away win at 4/6, more tempting is the 3/4 on offer for both sides to score.
