Tyler Adams to Chelsea is ‘looking increasingly likely’
Chelsea have stepped up their efforts to sign Tyler Adams from Leeds United with the American's departure now looking likely.
Chelsea's interest in Leeds United and USA midfielder Tyler Adams is concrete and a move could happen this week, according to reports.
Adams, 24, joined Leeds from RB Leipzig last summer for a sizeable fee and cut a composed figure among the chaos at Elland Road.
He made 24 appearances before suffering a season-ending injury but in that time became a firm fan favourite.
Reports emerged linking Chelsea with a surprise move over the weekend and speaking on the Square Ball on Monday, Phil Hay confirmed a move is 'looking increasingly likely'.
Chelsea have already contacted the American's agent to explore the conditions of a deal and it seems to have been given the green light.
The move should be straightforward given he has a modest release clause, rumoured to be around £20 million, following relegation from the Premier League.
An official bid could be submitted this week and the expectations are that Adams will accept the glamorous-looking move to the capital.
Chelsea already have an embarrassment of riches in the middle of the park and with Moises Caicedo also on their radar, it remains to be seen where Adams fits in.
49ers Enterprises have promised an 'aggressive' approach to this transfer window but it's starting to look like Leeds may need to sell to buy in order to fulfill Daniel Farke's extensive wishlist.
