Transfer Talk: Salernitana land Ribery but Luiz will not be joining Serie A new boys

Franck Ribery Fiorentina May21

Luiz reports are fake, says Fabrizio Romano who also doesn’t believe the rumours, while the Jack Wilshere of 2011 is linked with Leeds.

Franck Ribery looks like he has found another club after being released from Fiorentina.
Ribery scored five goals in 50 appearances for Fiorentina where his most notable moment came thanks to a three-match ban for pushing a match official.

Free agent Ribery, 38, is set to sign a one-year deal with the Serie A new boys and I'm guessing from the haircut he will be handed the No. 7 shirt (or the number of a new barbers).

David Luiz still to make a decision

Ribery will not be joined at Salernitana by David Luiz, however. Well not according to the man in the know, Fabrizio Romano.

Luiz has denied fake reports about him joining Salernitana, according to Romano who goes on to say there were fake rumours weeks ago about him flying to Turkey to join Adana Demirspor.
An intriguing development in transfer speculation when even the rumours can't be trusted to be rumours.

Sturridge pantomime looks set to continue

Daniel Sturridge remains a free agent and is currently on trial at Mallorca, scoring in a behind-closed-doors friendly on Sunday.

A number of EFL are thought to be interested in tempting the former Liverpool man back to the UK, including Bolton. However, I certainly wasn't aware of manager Ian Evatt's nickname.

Wilshere linked with Premier League return

Jack Wilshere is also a free agent and at 29 he would represent a fairly low-risk punt for a Premier League team, based on his best form.

But considering he hasn't played a full 90 minutes in the top flight since August 2018, the chances of that being Leeds, a team who pride themselves on their relentless energy, are slim to none.

It's as ridiculous as Michael Thomas' claim last week that Wilshere is still better than some of Arsenal's current crop of midfielders. I'm all for slagging Arsenal off with the best of them, but Wilshere has just been released by Bournemouth, Michael.

Colby Bishop bid turned down

I watched Colby Bishop a lot when I was covering Leamington and I didn't rate him.
Looks like Peterborough offered around £1million to take him from Accrington Stanley just before the transfer window so it shows what I know.
