Thiago Alcantara's injury woes continue: Liverpool midfielder sidelined again

Thiago Alcantara, Liverpool

Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara has suffered another injury setback after playing just 10 minutes of his comeback.

The former Spain international, who had been out since April with hip and hamstring problems, came on in the 85th minute of Sunday's defeat at Arsenal.

However, according to reports, the 32-year-old, out of contract in the summer, subsequently complained of a muscle discomfort after the game and is likely to be sidelined again.

Manager Jurgen Klopp is already without Dominik Szoboszlai, who aggravated a hamstring injury last week, but fellow midfielder Wataru Endo has returned from the Asian Cup after Japan's exit.

Forward Mohamed Salah is edging closer to a return after a hamstring injury sustained on 2023 Africa Cup of Nations duty with Egypt last month.
