Robbie Savage Premier League predictions: Weakly West Ham, leaders Liverpool, bullish Brighton
Former Premier League midfielder Robbie Savage returns to shed light on Sunday and Monday's matches.
Manchester City closed the gap on title rivals Liverpool last week with an enthralling 3-2 victory over Newcastle.
This Sunday, it’s the Reds who will be determined to strengthen their lead at the top when they travel to Bournemouth.
We also can’t forget about Arsenal. The Gunners, despite sitting fourth, can still force themselves back into the title picture with a good run of results. Mikel Arteta’s men will be hoping to start that run this Saturday against Crystal Palace.
Here, Robbie Savage looks at all of this weekend’s televised games. His full list of selections are at the bottom.
Sheffield United vs West Ham (Sun, 14:00 GMT)
Sheffield United take on an injury-hit West Ham. The first goal is so important in games featuring Sheffield United.
In 16 of 20 games, they’ve conceded first, and they’ve lost 15 of those games.
But against an injury-hit West Ham, they’ll get the first goal and the only goal in a 1-0 win.
Liverpool vs Bournemouth (Sun, 16:30 GMT)
Bournemouth have lost eight of their last nine meetings against Liverpool and you’ve got to think Liverpool will keep a clean sheet. It’s about how many goals they’ll score.
Liverpool have got the best defensive record in the Premier League, only 18 goals conceded. They’ll keep another one here, but it’s going to be tight.
I’m going for 1-0 to Liverpool.
Brighton vs Wolves (Mon, 19:45 GMT)
Brighton take on Wolves and let’s have a little stat fest. Wolves and Brighton have only lost one game in their last eight in all competitions. They are both in very good form.
But, Brighton’s home record is very very good. They’ve only lost twice in all competitions at home this season. So I’m going to go with a Brighton 2-1 win.
