Real Madrid mulling over Bayern Munich's Alphonso Davies as potential addition to squad
Real Madrid are currently contemplating the inclusion of Alphonso Davies as part of their squad for the upcoming season.
Real Madrid are reportedly actively considering Bayern Munich utility player Alphonso Davies as a reinforcement for the upcoming season.
According to MARCA, representatives from the Madrid club have already made inquiries with Bayern Munich regarding a potential transfer for the 22-year-old Canadian international, and their request has not been outright denied.
While Bayern initially intended to rely on Davies as a key player for the future, his refusal to extend his contract, which concludes on June 30, 2025, has created an opening for a new situation.
Last week, his agent Nedal Huoseh commented to MARCA on the uncertain state of affairs at Bayern Munich, saying, "It's a chaotic moment at Bayern Munich. I'm not sure what's going on. There seems to be too much instability and uncertainty. Maybe it's better if we wait a while and see how he's doing at the club."
Throughout the season, Davies himself hinted at feeling isolated in Munich, raising doubts about his long-term commitment to the German club. "I am alone. Neither my family nor my girlfriend are with me," he stated, shedding light on the challenges faced by professional players.
Bayern Munich aimed to swiftly address Davies' concerns. Recognizing Real Madrid's interest, they have actively engaged in dialogue, even reportedly speaking to the player's entourage to gather information before initiating a formal transfer offer.
Historically, Bayern are known for not easily parting ways with their top players at a bargain price. Notable examples include Robert Lewandowski from last season and the intense courtship by Real Madrid for Franck Ribery in years past.
Clearly, both Real Madrid's management and coaches have significant concerns regarding the left-back position. Alongside the potential acquisition of Davies, the return of Fran Garcia, who spent three seasons with Rayo Vallecano, further adds to the depth of options.
Should the Canadian prodigy arrive, it would all but signal the end of Ferland Mendy's tenure at Real Madrid. Mendy has encountered numerous physical setbacks throughout the season, preventing his participation in the crucial stages of both the La Liga and Champions League campaigns.
Despite Mendy's desire for an improved contract, Real Madrid appears reluctant due to uncertainties surrounding his fitness. The club's focus appears to be shifting towards securing Davies' services to bolster their squad for the upcoming season.
