Bournemouth v Man City: FA Cup prediction and tips as Cherries end Citizens trophy hopes

Bournemouth striker Evanilson

We've picked out two big prices as Bournemouth eye up an FA Cup upset ahead of their meeting with Man City on Sunday afternoon (1630 GMT).

Bournemouth will play host to Man City in the FA Cup quarter-finals at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Having lost all 15 Premier League era meetings with Man City, you can imagine the joyous scenes at the Vitality Stadium when Bournemouth beat Pep Guardiola’s side 2-1 in November.

Victory on Sunday would mean more than three Premier League points, as it would send them through to the FA Cup semi-finals for the first time in their history.

Sunday’s clash at the Vitality will mark their third appearance at this stage of the competition, as they prepare to face a side that’s lifted the trophy seven times.

But for all their dominance over the past decade, including seven consecutive years of winning at least one trophy, City’s hopes of extending that streak rest solely on this fixture.

Good luck and please gamble responsibly.

Bournemouth v Man City betting preview

Goals from Antoine Semenyo and Evanilson were enough to beat the Citizens 2-1 when they met in the Premier League earlier this season.

Unfortunately for the Cherries, they seem to have slipped out of form at the most crucial juncture of their season.

Andoni Iraola’s side has faltered in the race for Europe after failing to win each of their last five matches, but they could see the FA Cup as a realistic route to take.

The competition has been blown wide up by upsets such as Plymouth beating Liverpool and Man Utd eliminating Arsenal, leaving four teams who have never won the competition in the final eight.

Every time City put together a sequence of results it leads us to believe they’re ‘turning a corner’. The reality is, they’re in the process of a rebuild that will take at least a year. They’re just beatable now.

Despite that, it’s hard to believe they won’t find a way to score with the attacking quality they possess, but Iraola’s side is good enough to press them into mistakes and outscore them.

Don’t let the big price scare you out of a bet, as xG suggests a scoreline in the region of 1.80 to 1.38 in favour of the home team. The closest translation is a 2-1 win for the Cherries.

We're also going to lean on some season averages for a bet builder. Bournemouth won't be able to progress without some help from Kepa, who is averaging 3.7 saves per match this season.

The hosts commit more fouls than any other team in the Premier League, with Antoine Semenyo averaging more than two per game.

Finally, we'll back Evanilson to test the keeper, as the Brazilian is averaging more shots on target (1.4) per 90 minutes than anyone else.
