Liverpool vs Everton: Prediction, tips and bet builder as Reds look to get back on track

Alisson Becker of Liverpool

Liverpool look to put a disappointing period behind them when they host bitter rivals Everton on Wednesday night (2000 BST).

Arne Slot had his first bad week in the Anfield hotseat prior to the international break, with penalty heartbreak at the hands of PSG and a cup final defeat to Newcastle.

However, the international break provided the Reds with time to reset ahead of the run-in and that kicks off with the Merseyside derby, as both teams battle for local bragging rights.

In February the two teams drew 2-2 thanks to a late leveller from James Tarkowski in the final derby at Goodison Park and the rivalry is renewed at Anfield as the Reds look to kick off what could be a title procession.

We have taken a look into our crystal ball and have a list of predictions, which can be found below.

Good luck and please gamble responsibly.

Match result- draw

There is a significant gap between the teams in the league table, but recent fortunes suggest this could be a close match.

The Reds' standards have dropped in recent weeks, they weren't at the races at all during the 2-1 Wembley defeat to Newcastle and struggled to deal with PSG in the Champions League, while they also fell behind at home to basement boys Southampton in their last league game.

Meanwhile, the Toffees have turned a corner since David Moyes made his return. They are unbeaten in the league since January 15, when they lost 1-0 to Aston Villa, and he has made them very hard to beat.

Everton have lost their winning spark though, with each of their last four ending in draws, but they have found the back of the net in all of them.

We're going to stick our neck out with this one and predict a draw, despite Liverpool's excellent derby record at Anfield.

Mo Salah first goalscorer

Mo Salah had an unusually quiet day at the office against Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final, but that doesn't take away from what's been an excellent season for the Egyptian.

Salah is sitting pretty at the top of both the goals and assists charts, with 44 goal contributions in the Premier League this season.

He also has an excellent record in Merseyside derbies, scoring eight goals in 12 games.

We think Salah to score first is a worthwhile bet.

Under 2.5 goals

The 2-2 draw at Goodison was the first time this fixture's produced a goal-fest in a long time.

In fact, prior to that game, the last last five Merseyside derbies produced under 2.5 goals.

Everton have only scored one in each of their last three games, while Liverpool have scored just one goal in their last two matches, which equates to over 210 minutes of football.

We think this'll be a tight affair and under 2.5 goals is a good bet.

Total match corners over 10.5

In a tight game, we think that set pieces will be key, particularly from an Everton perspective after seeing how Liverpool struggled with defending them against Newcastle.

The Reds also have aerial threats, particularly Virgil Van Dijk, so we think over 10.5 corners is a big possibility in this game.
