Real Madrid: Los Blancos lead race for Chelsea star and England international Reece James

Reece James

Real Madrid are reportedly leading the way for the signing of Chelsea right-back Reece James.

Real Madrid are among the best performing teams in all of Europe and it comes as no surprise that they are being linked with the best players in the world.

On this ocassion, the player in question is Chelsea star Reece James and Los Blancos look to be readying an offer for him in summer.

This season hasn't been the best for the right-back as injuries have set him back over the course of the campaign.

Despite this, thanks to his performances, he has established himself as one of the best full-backs in world football.

He recently signed a six-year-deal with his boyhood club but as they are under new ownership and management, he may be moved on to take on another challenge.

The Blues signed Olympique Lyonnais wonderkid Malo Gusto for just £15million in January who looks to be the ideal successor to James.
When looking at Real Madrid's squad, the area they look weakest in is right-back.

Dani Carvajal, Lucas Vazquez and Alvaro Odriozola are Los Blancos' current options in right-back and even though each have played well, James is a major upgrade.

The signing of the 23-year-old would also align with Madrid's current transfer regime of signing players for the future.
The likes of Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni have been signed recently in order to plan for the future.

The transfer of James would not be cheap as the defender is said to cost around the £60million mark.

This means that a transfer would likely break the current record set for a full-back which is the £60million Chelsea spent on Marc Cucurella last summer.

Aside from James, Los Blancos are in the market for many other right backs such as Joao Cancelo and Juan Foyth.

Although all three would be viable options, James is the stand-out player among the players avaliable.
