Newcastle interested in huge Bayern Munich star

Newcastle are looking to bolster their squad this summer and right winger is one of the positions that Eddie Howe is looking to strengthen.

Reports have suggested that Howe and the recruitment team have targeted Bayern Munich's Serge Gnabry, who is reportedly valued in the region of £40 million.

The Mirror report that Gnabry could be departing the Allianz Arena after the arrival of Michael Olise from Crystal Palace, who is expected to take up a starting spot on the right flank for the German giants.

The former Arsenal man will be well sought after this summer, should he be made available for transfer, given his vast experience at the highest level, most notably being part of the squad that won the Champions League in 2020.

The 29-year-old's stats speak for themselves, he has scored 86 goals in 238 appearances for the Bavarians and has 45 caps for the German national team, scoring 22 goals.

Gnabry's age may not fit the recent recruitment model on Tyneside, but he would be a step up on the options that they have in the position, with Miguel Almiron only contributing to four Premier League goals in 33 appearances during the 23/24 season.

Newcastle are also interested in Dutch youngster Xavi Simons, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

There have been tentative enquiries over the last week, with the Magpies waiting to see what PSG's stance is regarding the future of Simons.

However, Howe and co will face tough competition for the Dutchman should he be leaving Paris this summer, with Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig and Manchester United reportedly interested in the 21-year-old.
