Mohammed Kudus: West Ham will 'aim even higher' in upcoming fixtures
West Ham star Mohammed Kudus is feeling optimistic about both the club and his own trajectories this season.
Ghana winger Kudus climbed off the bench to score his first Premier League goal and snatch a 2-2 draw with Newcastle on Sunday.
The 23-year-old has yet to start a league match since his £38million summer switch from Ajax.
But another exciting cameo appearance, culminating in a 20-yard drive past Nick Pope in the last minute, helped maintain West Ham's fine start to the season.
"We are not satisfied and we aim even higher," said Kudus. "We wanted three points but we'll settle for that, take the point and then focus on the next game.
"Newcastle are a very good side but we go into every game with the same mentality. We wanted three points. We couldn't get them but it was good to get the draw.
"I feel there is a lot more to come from me. The team, the coaches, everybody around me have helped me a lot to settle in and it feels like a family already."
Tomas Soucek fired West Ham into the lead but a quickfire double from Alexander Isak put Newcastle in control until Kudus struck.
Sweden striker Isak was denied a hat-trick by the foot of the post and then had to be replaced by Callum Wilson after picking up an injury.
"Alex signalled to come off," said manager Eddie Howe. "Callum couldn't have started the game and he probably couldn't have played longer than he did in the end.
"I really only wanted to use him in an emergency but Alex signalled that he had to come off so it was a natural replacement."
