Maximilian Beier set to make impact for Dortmund in Bundesliga opener
Maximilian Beier has appeared to have acclimatised swiftly at Borussia Dortmund following his recent transfer from Hoffenheim.
The young striker, 21, has emerged as a strong candidate to start Dortmund's Bundesliga opener against Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday, as revealed by BVB coach Nuri Sahin during a press conference on Thursday.
Sahin praised Beier's rapid integration into the team, stating, "Intelligent footballers don't take that long to integrate. I have the feeling he was there right away.
"He's ready and an important option, also for the weekend." He further added, "We will make a decision after the two remaining training sessions.
"Obviously, he's a candidate, which is why we brought him in. He will be an important player for us."
In Dortmund's recent 4-1 DFB-Pokal victory over Phoenix Lubeck, Karim Adeyemi started up front, with Beier coming on for him in the 69th minute.
Sahin also provided an update on his squad, mentioning that apart from the injured Serhou Guirassy, everyone else is fit, including goalkeeper Gregor Kobel, who had previously been substituted as a precaution.
"Kobel has been training with us all week. It was just a precautionary measure. Everyone else is fit too except Serhou, who is in recovery training.
"Everything looks very good. We're looking forward to him finally getting going," Sahin noted.
