Leeds United Supporters’ Trust has confirmed that Elland Road has been registered as an Asset of Community Value.

Leeds United Supporters' Trust has moved to safeguard the future of Elland Road by registering it as an Asset of Community Value.
Andrea Radrizanni's complicated and messy divorce from Leeds thrust stadium ownership into the limelight over the summer.

The departing Italian felt the wrath of Whites supporters after a story broke alleging he explored the possibility of using the stadium to secure a loan to fund the takeover of Sampdoria.

Radrizanni was the rightful owner of Elland Road after purchasing the stadium from Teak Commercial Limited, a British Virgin Islands-based company that has owned Elland Road since 2004.

Speaking in 2017, he said: "Today is an important day in our history and a proud day for me and my team."
While it's company practice to offer assets as collateral to obtain a business loan, the move came as a surprise to those involved with the takeover and could have damaged its chances.
The move left a bad taste in the mouth of many and burned any remaining bridges he may have had at Elland Road.
LUST had previously registered the stadium as an Asset of Community Value with the Italian's support but failed to renew the license when it expired.
Speaking on Tuesday, July 18, the Trust said: "The AoCV listing recognises the role of our historic ground and club within the community and offers some protection against worst-case scenarios of asset stripping."
The news was broken on the Leeds United website on Tuesday morning with the move receiving the full backing of chairman Paraag Marathe.
