Luka Modric's retirement dream and Champions League drive revealed!
Luka Modric shares his goals and new role under Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid ahead of the Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund.
Speaking in an interview with Juanma Castano, the Croatian midfielder hinted that his ultimate goal has always been to conclude his career with the Los Blancos.
Regarding his retirement plans, Modric expressed, "I've always said that I would like to retire at Real Madrid. It would be a dream to finish my career at my home, at the club of my life, and hopefully that will happen."
Addressing concerns about his physical condition, Modric confidently stated, "I have the physique and the football ability to continue at the top level, I have no doubts about that. There has been much talk about my age, and it bothers me.
"At Real Madrid, only the best play; no one plays by decree. Right now, I feel strong, but that could change in six months, and if I see that I don't, I will be the first to say so."
Reflecting on his new role within the team, Modric, 38, admitted the initial challenge, saying, "It took me some time to understand and accept my new role. I will never give up; I believe I have been an example of attitude in every way. I don't think I caused any problems for the coach or anyone else. My relationship with Ancelotti has been more or less good, as always, with a lot of respect.
"Of course, when players don't play, anyone who says they're happy is lying. It's a situation I've had to get used to, and I've never given up. My attitude has been positive."
In terms of the Ballon d'Or award, Modric expressed his preference for a Real Madrid player, suggesting, "I would give the Ballon d'Or to someone from Madrid. The favourites are Toni Kroos, Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham; not necessarily in that order.
"Due to our relationship, closeness, and the time we've spent together, I would like it to be Toni."
Modric's insights shed light on his commitment to Real Madrid, his resilience in facing challenges, and his unwavering dedication to his team's success.
