Liverpool news: Reds have the team to fight for quadruple, says Sadio Mane
After a 3-2 victory over Manchester City booked them a spot in the FA Cup final, Liverpool's Sadio Mane insists the Reds have a squad capable of winning an historic quadruple.
Liverpool kept their quadruple hopes alive on Saturday afternoon, beating rivals Manchester City 3-2 at Wembley to reach the FA Cup final for the first time under Jurgen Klopp.
Having already won the Carabao Cup earlier this season, Liverpool are already eyeing up further silverware, and find themselves in the semi-finals of the Champions League and second in the Premier League behind City.
Liverpool will find out their FA Cup final opponents later today, but are already aware that Villarreal await them in the Champions League last four, while they face just a one-point deficit in the Premier League.
With their chances of landing an historic quadruple this season, Sadio Mane was questioned about Liverpool's hopes of achieving the feat.
"I think it would be early to talk about winning four trophies, but for sure I think we have to fight for it because we have the team to fight for it and we will do everything possible to go for it," said Mane.
Mane stole the headlines during Saturdays's clash, scoring twice against City as Liverpool raced into a 3-0 lead by half time.
City put up a resilient showing after the break, and managed to claw back two goals, but Liverpool were able to hold out and progress to the final.

However, despite drawing and then beating City over the past week, Mane insists Pep Guardiola's side are still the side to beat.
"We knew it would be a very tough game because Man City, if I don't say the best team in the world then for sure they are one of the best and we have to respect them," he added.
"Of course City are the best team in the world. Liverpool want to be the best team in the world, so we are working for it.
"We will see if we are going to be the best team or not, but we will go for it."
Liverpool's tough run doesn't stop anytime soon, with the Reds facing a visit from arch-rivals Manchester United on Tuesday evening.
Their week continues with a Merseyside derby against Everton on Sunday before their first leg clash with Villarreal on Wednesday April 27.
