Liverpool news: 'Rhythm is good' says Jurgen Klopp, as Liverpool close gap to Manchester City

Arsenal vs Liverpool

Liverpool's 2-0 win over Arsenal secured a ninth successive Premier League win for the Reds, but while Klopp was pleased with his side's rhythm, he insisted they have to be wary of losing momentum.

After a goalless first half at the Emirates, goals from Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino after the break ensured Liverpool saw off an in-form Arsenal side as they continue to pursue the league title.

The Gunners themselves had won five successive games in the Premier League, but Liverpool's intensity proved too much to handle, and they suffered their first defeat since losing to Manchester City on New Years Day.
The result moved Liverpool to just a point behind the Citizens at the top of the table, while it stopped Arsenal from further consolidating fourth position.
With just nine games left to play for Liverpool, they know the title is in their hands if they win all remaining games - although that includes a trip to the Etihad Stadium on April 10.

Having already won nine games in a row, Jurgen Klopp urged his side to continue their rhythm, but warned them that the momentum they built is "fragile".

Following the final whistle, the German coach said:

"Momentum is the most fragile flower on the planet.

"If someone walks on it, then you have to work to get the momentum back and just get through it.
"A rhythm is good but a rhythm is playing every four days, three days, it is a rhythm but it is an intense one, we are not complaining, we want to be in all competitions. It is fine but the opponents are all quality and they are really different.

"We constantly travel, we go here, we go there. I don't complain, we don't complain, it is just how it is. You wake up in a different hotel and someone tells you where the restaurant is and you try and remember the number of your room."

Up next for the Reds is a trip to Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup on Sunday, before an extended break. Their next league match comes against Watford on April 2.

While Klopp refrained from complaining about fixtures, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta wasn't in the mood for holding back.

Having just played on a Wednesday night, the Gunners are back in league action in the early Saturday kick-off against Aston Villa.
Arteta sarcastically thanked the Premier League for their scheduling, before simply insisting it "isn't fair".
"Thank you so much to the Premier League to do that," said Arteta, who confirmed the club had raised the issue with the Premier League.
"And they've done it again when we have to play Chelsea and Manchester United. So if they want to give them any advantage, I say to them today: 'Thank you so much for doing that'.
"Don't worry the players on Saturday they will be there, with energy. They will eat, sleep well, but thank you so much to the Premier League for putting the fixtures like this. Very, very helpful.
"It is not fair. It is not fair what they have done. It is always 'it's BT, it's Sky, it is this, it's that' - but the one that is affected is Arsenal and the only thing that I care (about) and we care (about) is Arsenal. And for Arsenal it is not fair."
