Leeds United news: End of an era as Marcelo Bielsa is sacked following poor run of form
After a run of four straight defeats, Leeds United have decided to pull the trigger and sack Marcelo Bielsa with just 12 Premier League games to go until the end of the season.
Saturday's 4-0 defeat to Tottenham was the club's fifth loss in six games - a run which has seen them concede a total of 21 goals.
This string of results has left the club 16th in the Premier League, just two points above the relegation zone.
The 66-year-old remained convinced that he could spark a turnaround, but the Leeds board decided otherwise, with former RB Leipzig boss Jesse Marsch the heavy favourite to replace him. The club say they hope to announce their new manager on Monday.
Leeds chairman Andrea Radrizzani said on the club's official website: "This has been the toughest decision I have had to make during my tenure at Leeds United, taking into account all the success Marcelo has had at the club.
But it was always going to be difficult to replicate, not least because of a crippling injury list that robbed Bielsa of key players, including Patrick Bamford and Kalvin Phillips.
