Kante to Arsenal rumours gather pace but bookies have more faith in Man Utd switch
Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante has become a target for Arsenal with just 12 months left on his contract, but the bookies still think he'll be off to Manchester United.
Arsenal have already been busy in the transfer market this summer, bringing in FC Porto's Fabio Vieira, Manchester City's Gabriel Jesus, Marquinhos, and Matt Turner, but now they are reportedly eyeing up the 31-year-old French international.
But the bookies are not biting on the rumours and have Kante at a slightly shorter 20/1 to join Arsenal. He is still favourite to join Manchester United at 6/1 before the transfer window closes in the early September, with Real Madrid at 8s and PSG behind that at 12/1.
It's no surprise that Arsenal would want to significantly strengthen what has been the weakest part of their team in recent years, but whether they can coax Kante from one of their London rivals is another matter.
Manchester United are still actively chasing Barcelona's Frenkie de Jong, but could switch to Kante if that deal falls through.
He is currently missing from Chelsea's USA tour, but this is believed to be because he doesn't meet the country's entry requirements around the Covid vaccination.
