Ivan Toney next club odds: Will Brentford man choose Chelsea or Al-Ahli?

Brentford star Ivan Toney 6 Mar 2023

With Ivan Toney expected to leave Brentford on deadline day, Planet Sport takes a look at the odds on the striker's next club, with Chelsea and Ah-Ahli battling for his signature.

Ivan Toney sat out Brentford’s 2-1 win over Crystal Palace and their 2-0 defeat to Liverpool, with boss Thomas Frank acknowledging the England striker is likely to move this summer.

A suspension for illegal betting activities coupled with a low-key return to action last season, where he scored four goals in 17 matches, make him less of a hot commodity than the season before.

Still, with 47 goal involvements across 83 Premier League appearances, Brentford's main man is a class act.

The Bees top-flight top goalscorer is expected to land in Saudi Arabia, specifically at Al Ahli, but they aren’t the only club showing an interest.

Join Planet Sport as we run through the betting odds for Toney’s next club.

Chelsea - 1/2

Chelsea weren't initially considered to be in the running, but we should have known they wouldn't be able to resist. It feels like the Blues have snapped up half of Europe in recent years, and Toney could be their latest addition.

A deal for Victor Osimhen is looking increasingly complicated as we enter deadline day, with the Premier League club struggling to match the exorbitant pay packet on offer from Al-Ahli.

The England striker would be paid a fraction of what Osimhen is set to earn in Saudi, but brings with him a guarantee of goals at this level.

However, Toney agreed to a surprise £40 million move early on Friday, despite Ah-Ahli also committing to signing Osimhen, but there could yet be more twists and turns in this saga.

Any Saudi club - 7/4

The Saudi Pro League was initially Toney’s most likely destination. Clubs continue to hand out eye-watering contracts to upset the status quo, and the Bees’ penalty king could demand a hefty wage.

Al-Ahli saw a bid of £35million rejected last week but according to reports, they plan to return with an improved offer whilst enticing the England striker with a £327,000 per week wage.

He’d join the likes of Roberto Firmino and Riyad Mahrez in their ranks and, all being well, will provide the goals they need to compete with Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal.

Man Utd - 12/1

INEOS are in the process of rebuilding Manchester United, which involves an overhaul of the squad. The likes of Leny Yoro, Matthijs De Ligt and Noussair Mazzraoui could soon form a new-look defence.

However, the Reds need reinforcements in attack. Joshua Zirkzee made a positive debut at the expense of Rasmus Hjojlund, who is unavailable due to injury.

There’s still a question as to whether Marcus Rashford can return to his former glory and goals aside, Toney would give them a type of outlet they simply don’t have.

Arsenal - 12/1

The Gunners are the same price but they feel a less likely destination to us.

There have been times over the years when they were crying out for a proper centre forward, and maybe they still are.

Gabriel Jesus played the role for a while, whilst Kai Havertz seems to be Mikel Arteta’s preferred option these days with, at least for now, Eddie Nketiah waiting in the wings.

West Ham United - 25/1

Niclas Fullkrug’s arrival will surely put an end to the Hammers' interest in Ivan Toney. Granted, he’s an upgrade on Michal Antonio, but Julen Lopetegui seems happy with what he has.

The Hammers are blessed with technicians who can get them up the pitch this season, so a move away from Antonio towards a fox in the box is likely. But we think Fullkrug will play that role.

Tottenham Hotspur - 33/1

It would have made perfect sense for him to join Spurs before the arrival of Dominic Solanke, but not now. Ange Postecoglou’s style can’t accommodate both of them.

There may be room in the supporting role should Richarlison leave, but one of England’s best forwards isn’t moving to sit on the bench.
