Everton's Neal Maupay to leave for Marseille, Orel Mangala close to signing
Everton boss Sean Dyche has revealed that Neal Maupay is expected to leave, while Lyon's Orel Mangala is close to signing for the club.
French striker Maupay, who spent last season on loan at Brentford and has been restricted to just 12 Premier League starts since arriving from Brighton in the summer of 2022, is bound for Marseille.
It has been reported that the Ligue 1 club will take Maupay on an initial loan with an obligation to buy him permanently for £3million.
Dyche, whose side are bidding for their first Premier League win of the season against Bournemouth at home on Saturday, said: "There's a possible situation where he'll be leaving the club.
"There's nothing guaranteed yet, but he'll be travelling over and seeing if that deal can happen."
Maupay took to social media this week to hit back at Everton fans who hurled abuse at some of Dyche's players at Euston Station as they made their way home from Saturday's 4-0 defeat at Tottenham.
When asked if the potential incoming finances for Maupay will allow him wider scope in the transfer market before Friday's 11pm deadline, boss Dyche added: "Not necessarily, the money is absorbed into the club in many different ways.
"So we'll have to wait and see. It's not just money you understand, it's the availability at this late stage of the window.
"Who's out there who could be done? Who might not be able to be done, that sort of thing.
"That will be coming as and when. When we've got a chance to operate, we will."
Mangala is expected in Liverpool imminently to discuss a swift Premier League return, having only joined the French club on loan from Nottingham Forest in February before that deal was made permanent in July.
Dyche added: "I don't think my words can jinx it, I'm not superstitious. But he's a player who's making his way over, but there's still a lot to do - the details of any deal, as there always is of course.
"But there's a chance of getting him over and seeing if that deal can be done.
"He's got a bit more know-how than any of the other signings we've brought in, having played in the Premier League a little bit more, but we'll see, he's got to get here first. We'll see if the deal gets done."
Mangala made 47 Premier League appearances for Forest across one-and-a-half seasons after signing for £12.75m from Stuttgart in July 2022.
