Dortmund secure Maximilian Beier as Niclas Fullkrug's replacement

Maximilian Beier in action for Hoffenheim

Borussia Dortmund have acted swiftly to fill the void left by Niclas Fullkrug's departure to West Ham for €30 million last week.

The German club have turned to their domestic market, securing 21-year-old forward Maximilian Beier from Hoffenheim for €28.5 million.

Beier, who hails from Brandenburg an der Havel, has made a notable impact in the Bundesliga.

Over the past season, he scored 16 goals and provided three assists in 33 appearances. His performances earned him two caps for Germany, highlighting his growing reputation.

Dortmund's general manager, Lars Ricken, expressed his delight at landing Beier, stating, "Several major European clubs were vying for his signature.

"We are very pleased to have persuaded him to join Borussia Dortmund."

Sebastian Kehl, Dortmund's sporting director, added, "Maxi was the player we had our eyes on following Füllkrug's departure. Despite his youth, he is composed and stands out with his pace and goal-scoring threat.

"He is versatile, capable of fitting into different positions and systems. His development is still ongoing, and we are committed to helping him reach his full potential."

Beier himself shared his enthusiasm for the move: "I am eager to take this significant step in my career. The club's goals align with mine, we both aim to win titles. I will give everything to achieve that."
