Chelsea news: Mason Mount future still undecided as Liverpool ponder summer move

Mason Mount

The future of Mason Mount is still up in the air with Liverpool leading the way to sign the midfielder.

Mason Mount has been the centre of many transfer rumours following his poor run of form.

Now, although Chelsea's poor league position can't be whittled down to just one player, Mount has often been targeted as one of the key problems.

In the Premier League this season, the 24-year-old has only contributed to five goals across the campaign.

One of the main teams who have been linked with the attacking midfielder this summer are Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool.
The German has been an admirer of Mount for many years now with Klopp even saying in 2019 that he was already worth "£60m if not more."

The Reds are on track to finish outside the top four this season, despite chasing a quarduple just last season.

During his pre-match press conference for their upcoming match against Leeds, Klopp was asked about his interest in transfers this summer.
Over the course of the summer, Jude Bellingham has been the main player linked to joining Liverpool this summer.

However, when asked about the prospect of him joining Liverpool, Klopp said: "What we need and what we want, we try absolutely everything to get it.

"There are moments we have to accept this or that are not possible for us and step aside."
This has been interpreted by many fans and pundits alike that Liverpool's race to sign Bellingham is now over.
This means that Liverpool are liekly to turn to other targets as Klopp also said "there is a list of about 12 midfielders, hopefully we get some."
This would likely pave the way for Mount to make his move to Merseyside and become the marquee signing for summer.
