Real Madrid kicked off the year in style, clinching a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Mallorca in a La Liga game that remained on a knife's edge until the 78th minute.

Antonio Rudiger's clinical finish from Luka Modric's precise delivery proved to be the decisive moment that sealed the win for the Merengues.

The victory not only helped Real Madrid maintain their top spot in the La Liga standings but also highlighted their prowess in set-piece situations. Coach Carlo Ancelotti acknowledged the team's success from dead-ball situations in an interview carried by the clubs website, stating, "We have good kickers and formidable finishers. There are games in which the dead ball gives you an advantage."

Despite the challenges posed by a resilient Mallorca side, Ancelotti commended his team's defensive solidity, emphasizing their ability to concede only 11 goals in La Liga so far. He explained, "The fact that we concede few goals makes me happy and happy. It means that the team works well and there is commitment."

The win marked the midpoint of the league season for Real Madrid, and Ancelotti expressed satisfaction with their performance, adding, "It's already part of the past, and we have to look forward. It's going to be a challenging League."

Ancelotti also praised the team's defensive resilience, particularly after addressing weaknesses exposed in a previous match against Atletico Madrid.

Reflecting on the January transfer market, Ancelotti dismissed speculations about new signings, expressing confidence in the squad's recovery of key players. He stated, "(Eduardo) Camavinga and (Ferland) Mendy will be there for the next one, and the condition of Vinicius Junior will improve. We suffered in the past, but I am confident that we can do well this month."

Ancelotti also provided insights into the return of Vinicius after a long injury, emphasizing the importance of patience with young talents like Arda Guler. Additionally, he praised young players like Brahim Diaz for injecting a fresh dynamic into the team.

Addressing the goalkeeper situation, Ancelotti assured that Kepa Arrizabalaga would return in the next game, hinting at possible rotations and youth player inclusions in the upcoming Copa del Rey clash on 6 January against Arandina at Estadio El Montecillo.
