Bundesliga news: New Schalke boss Thomas Reis wants his players to be 'proud'

Newly-appointed FC Schalke head coach Thomas Reis is thrilled to have taken charge at the Bundesliga outfit and eager to create forward momentum.

The 49-year-old, who spent the last three years at VfL Bochum, currently rock bottom of the Bundesliga standings after 11 games.
The Royal Blues have managed only one league win, following their promotion into the top flight last season, but Reis is happy to take on the challenge and wants his players to dig deep as they plot to escape the danger zone.
"I'm pleased to have taken on this task," said Reis at his first press conference as head coach, as quoted by the official Schalke 04 website.
"The coaching group have to be on the same page. It's important that we get some stability going and enchant the supporters
"What will be decisive is that the team gives everything and that nobody is able to say after the season that they didn't try hard enough.
"I am hungry for success, eager to do so with this team."
Reis also wants to instil a sense of pride in the team and a dogged determination to succeed.
He added: "We need to be proud to wear these colours and be motivated to achieve."
Reis's first task will be the league clash against SC Freiburg on Sunday, October 30.
