Brennan Johnson concedes that Wolves defeat was deserved
Tottenham attacker Brennan Johnson says his side didn't deserve anything from their Premier League loss to Wolves.
Pablo Sarabia and Mario Lemina scored in stoppage time as the hosts claimed a deserved 2-1 win.
Johnson's third-minute strike gave Spurs the lead but they were second best from then onwards.
Ange Postecoglou's side missed the chance to go two points clear at the top of the Premier League and have now suffered back-to-back defeats.
"It happens in football, we've enjoyed late goals and now we're tasting defeat and it's really sickening. All the boys are feeling the same," Johnson told the club's official site. "We can't complain too much because we didn't really kill the game off.
"It's tough to take but it's about how we perform. There were certain things we could have done better in terms of moving the ball and getting into better positions.
"We started well, it came with a goal, but after that we went back into the head space of getting three points and that's not the mentality to have. We wanted to be safe, we went into safety mode where if we see it out we’ll get three points."
Wales forward Johnson opened the scoring from Pedro Porro's cross after three minutes but Wolves reacted well and dominated the rest of the game.
Lemina went close and Hwang Hee-Chan missed a golden chance soon after the restart. Jose Sa saved from Giovanni Lo Celso just as it looked like Spurs would hold on, until Wolves' late recovery.
Sarabia struck in the opening seconds of stoppage time when he collected Matheus Cunha's pass and volleyed in. He then turned provider in the seventh minute of injury time, finding Lemina to prod in the winner.
Victory moved Wolves onto 15 points and nine clear of the relegation zone but boss Gary O'Neil remained focused on securing their Premier League status.
He said: "I don't know what the number (for survival) is any more, it was 40, then 38. Making sure the club was in the Premier League was my goal when I came in. We understood the squad was in transition.
"The main thing was making sure the club was in the Premier League, which we haven’t done yet.
"It's around the group and performances, I know it's a performance industry but I want the fans to come here and enjoy watching the team. They probably are at the moment.
"It's Manchester City, Aston Villa, Newcastle, Spurs who we have basically gone toe-to-toe with. The next test is consistency, we played Luton and Sheffield United and didn't manage to get three points for various reasons."
